Former Portland Improviser joins SNL

I freaked out this morning when I got an e-mail telling me that my old Brainwaves cast member Mickey Watkins has been picked as one of the two new faces on SNL. Mickey is amazingly funny and talented. She will kick huge funny booty on SNL! An enormous congrats from the Portland improvisers who “remember you when”! Huge love! Go Mickey!

Mickey started at Toad City doing improv and also performed in one of our first original scripts- I think it was by Steve Patterson. She was friends with playwright Dan Trujillo who got her involved with TCP where he was a company member. Man, it couldn’t happen to a better person. Mickey was solid to work with, super smart and a sweet heart. yea!

I love Mickey! Did some comedy with her in Judy Carter’s class and we performed at the Laugh Factory in L.A.

Love her dialect/accent work. What’s the point of having ethnic relatives if you can’t mock them?
